2012 Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco
SEP 15 Bright ruby. Red berries, some floral notes, faint spice touch nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, fresh, fairly smooth. Good length. 88

2012 Vietti Barbera d'Alba Vigna Scarrone
SEP 15 Bright ruby. Dark fruits, spices, some vanilla, layered nose, some floral notes. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, juicy, fruity, fairly intense, quite a lot of vanilla and wood spices. 88

2011 Vietti Barolo Castiglione
SEP 15 Bright ruby. Red berries, anise, some scented and floral notes nose. Pure anise. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, intense, fairly elegant structure and fruit, long.

2009 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito
MAY 14 Bright ruby. Ripe cherries, anise, tar and roses nose, intense. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rich and fruity, spices, slightly warm finish far back, long.

2007 Vietti Barolo Castiglione
MAY 12 Ruby, lovely classic Barolo nose, tar and roses, cherries and red berries. High and lively acidity, ripe tannins, fresh and long. 93

2004 Vietti Barolo Rocche
AUG 12 Bright ruby, roses and tar, intense fruit, some cherries and starting leather hiding behind. Very complex and feels full for Barolo. High acidity and high of ripe tannins. Didn't need too much air to feel open, but young.

2004 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito
OCT 13 Ruby, garnet rim. Tar, roses, cherries, liquorice, intense nose, ever so slightly alcoholic, vlean red fruit with more air. High acidity, high of ripe tannins, fruity, intense, textured, more intense than a bottle five years back, heavy, rich, oak tannins bites a bit on the palate, long. Sweet but manages to be a bit refreshing. 92

2004 Vietti Barolo Lazzarito
JAN 11 Bright ruby, very elegant nose, roses, tar, leather, fine red berries. Great structure, lots of ripe tannins, high acidity, elegant texture for a Barolo, needs time, somewhat closed, always superb, one of my favorites from not only Vietti, but all over Barolo.

1998 Vietti Barolo Rocche
FEB 12 Ruby with brick rim. Starting out with cooked plums, and massive licorice, felt tired and old. I still decided to try to decant it, and it pulled together. Tar, licorice, ripe and heavy nose, just a touch of VA, some violet high-notes. Fairly fresh acidity but low for Barolo, tannins feel ripe and polished, lots of licorice on the palate, good length, but disappointing.

1997 Vietti Barolo Lazarito
OCT 10 Bright ruby, brick rim. Canned mushrooms, coffee, extremely mature for its age. Lean body, ok acidity, plump fruit, drying tannins, long finish but not very good. A faulty storage bottle or is 97 in Italy really falling apart?
This is normally one of my favorites.

1962 Vietti Barolo
JAN 12 Fill in the lower neck, cork pretty good. Bright pale garnet with orange hue. Some mushrooms, tar and roses, more heavy of licorice and rose hips. Quite high acidity, with an almost shy attack before rushing in like a basketball team hoping to score, and then falls back off, like the waves on the beach. Tannins still there, lots of them, but they are more like spectators to the theme, just in the back, like a barrier, to keep the players on the field. A more gentle style of Barolo than many, not too intense, but lasting on the palate, a somewhat figy, licorice, sweet tobacco aftertaste.
More refreshing with air, has a nerve in it. 90
