DEC 15 Opaque. Dark fruits, rich, intense, spices, anise, layers of dark ripe fruits nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rich, fruity, intense, spices, exotic, long finish. 94

NOV 13 Black. Dark berries, fruity, intense, bit more alcohol up front on the nose than some. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, lively, fruity, rich and again a bit showy alcohol, long. 93

1963 Ferreira Vintage Port
FEB 12 Deep garnet, garnet rim. Sediments. Red berries, anise, leather, hint of spices. Fuller body than Fonseca's, fresh acidity, lively, elegant, long, younger feel to it as well, but not as complex, nuanced and layered. 93

AUG 10 Gorgeous garnet, unfortunately slightly corked bottle....drinkable but not up to its normal standard.

AUG 10 Bright garnet, red berries, touch volatile, anise, raisins, alcohol shows too well. Good acidity, balance (except alcohol) lean body, refreshing, not the best bottle of this Port. 88

JAN 10 Bright ruby with thin brick rim, lots of sediments. Intense, sweet berries, spices, fills the room, slightly volatile, cherries, liquorice, mocha and some hazelnut. Soft attack, rounded first, then leaner and fresher, the acidity cleans exceptionally well, blackberries, cinnamon, stone fruits, very long finish. 95

1963 Ferreira Vintage Port
JAN 10 Bright ruby, brick-orange rim, lots of sediments. Fruity, prunes, figs, darker berries, such elegance and complexity. Transparent and layered, very fresh acidity, getting a bit drunk now, but it's so seductive. Fantastic finish. The third time I enjoy this beauty, the second best bottle. 96
