NOV 14 Ruby. Fruity, ripe red berries, anise, and light tea note. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh and fruity, quite lively, good length. 88

SEP 14 Ruby. Coffee, rich and fruity nose, intense nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, rich and fruity but balanced, intense, clean fruit, warm finish. Amarone rarely gets more balanced than this. 88

JAN 13 Ruby. Pure nose of red and darker berries. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, refreshing and elegant, good length. 88

AUG 11 Golden, yellow fruits, some oxidation, touches on tired. I thought this one would age a bit better to be honest, but seems to be only La Rocca that can age. 78

APR 10 Bright ruby, floral, dark fruits, perfumed, even cinnamon. Balanced and good structure, hides 14% alcohol well, but would be fresher with lower alcohol, good acidity, ripe tannins, good length. 76

2005 Pieropan Soave Classico Calvarino
NOV 11 Golden, slightly oxidized, matured more than anticipated, and seems to age less well than La Rocca. Was better a few years back while fresh and vigorous. 83

1998 Pieropan Soave Classico La Rocca
DEC 11 Pale golden, minerals, elegant nose, some pear and apples with more air, yellow fruits. Nice acidity, elegant texture, feels fresh, ages much better than the 05 Calvarino a few weeks back, lovely finish. 91

OCT 09 Golden yellow, hints of vanilla, beautifully mineral, slim and elegant, yet complex nose, a bit closed, some honey and melon. Soft attack, and then yellow plums, beautiful minerality, great balance and complexity, very elegant and a long finish. 89
