MAR 15 Ruby. Intense, exotic, cassis, vanilla, intense, layered, some plums on the nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, intense, sweet, ripe, plums and dark berries, long. 95

1997 Dunn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
JUN 12Ruby, lots of sediments in the bottle. Dark plums, cassis, leather, tobacco, mint and vanilla. Ripe and starting to mature nose. Coffee with more air. Fresh and for Napa, high acidity. Ripe tannins, balanced and lovely at 13% alcohol. Complex, long length. 92

DEC 09 Ruby, blackcurrants, cherries, leather, cigars, and cedar. Such fresh acidity, quite lean, but elegant body, intense fruit, ripe tannins. Very complex and balanced, long length. Drink or keep. 93

1985 Dunn Howell Mountain Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
JUN 10 Bright ruby red, tobacco, perfumed, roses, cigars, lots of liquorice, very open and showing its best, very fresh, touch of volatility, just to spice things up. Fantastic acidity as always, very transparent and layered, a Pinot approach to Cabernet feel, very long finish. Will last easily another ten or maybe twenty years. 96

1985 Dunn Howell Mountain Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
OCT 09 Dark ruby, pink rim. Soaked cork. Intense, surprisingly youthful, cassis, leather, blackcurrants, some vanilla, spice, hints of liquorice, cedar, very pure aromas. Medium body, lots of lively acidity, some coffee and mocha, chocolate and blueberries, very ripe tannins, complex and great balance, very long aftertaste. Drink or age further. Will last a long time still. 94
