I think we have to go back to 1994 to have such a dense Castillo Ygay at this stage. 94-95

MAR 15 Dyprød. Rik, fruktig, sødmefulle mørke bær, krydret, blåbær og solbær, vanilje. Frisk syre, fruktig, intens, sødmefull, rik og intens, vanilje, noe middelhavsurter, lang finish. Fra vinmarker i 550 meters høyde, nye franske fat i 20 måneder, gamle vinstokker. Første vin Murrieta bruker franske fat på. Litt varm finish. 91

MAR 15 Rubinrød. Mørke bær, noe krydder, lakris, blåbær, vanilje. Frisk syre, modne tanniner, rik, fruktig, intens, mørke bær, noe kokt frukt, ungdommelig og strukturert. Ligger først på nye eikefat i rundt 6 måneder før den flyttes over på eldre fat i nærmere et år til. Pen lengde. Mye vin for pengene. 88

OCT 14 Rubinrød. Lakris, røde og mørke bær, lett parfymert og svakt krydret duft, sjarmerende med luft. Frisk syre, modne tanniner, liten herbal tone, rops og blåbær, noe tydelig fatpreg fortsatt, pen lengde. Gi den gjerne en time eller to med luft i karaffel. 88

They need to get it together again, this is not good enough for a wine of almost legendary status. 84

APR 12 Slightly cloudy ruby, broad garnet rim. Cork dry and smoldering to pieces! This bottle has laid still in the same cellar since release. Prunes, leather, figs, some dust behind. Fresh acidity, tannins gone, full body compared to many other bottles I've tried (from many different sources), but lacks excitement, liveliness and vigor. Almost as old as a 1981 Montecillo two days back. What on earth are you doing at Murrieta these days? The wines are not even close to what they used to be.... 83

SEP 11 Bright red, garnet watery rim. More seductive nose than the two former, the barrel has let go and floral notes, lovely blueberries, leather, anise and cherry stones opens up. High acidity, somewhat volatile on the high notes, ripe tannins, lean with acidic finish. 90-91
