APR 17 Ruby. Scented, dark berries, anise, some spices, fruity, vanilla, rich blackberries, some coffee nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fruity, dark berries, anise, some spices, detailed, long. Elegant and refined Solaia. 95

NOV 12 About three weeks back I had the 08 that I found a bit heavy on the alcohol. The 07 is far more nuanced. Ruby. Rich nose but layered, spices, cassis, scented and a touch of licorice. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, spicy and some vanilla, long. Decant it if you open it now. 92

OCT 12  Ruby. Scented nose of roses. violets, cassis, blueberries and vanilla. Fresh acidity and ripe tannins. Slightly high in alcohol (14,5%) kills the real charm of otherwise great fruit and excellent wine. Warm finish. 88

NOV 11 Ruby, cassis, leather, vanilla nose, quite intense and elegant. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, again elegant texture and structure, should be longer. 91

JAN 14 Ruby. Fruity, anise, cherries, cassis and starting leather on the nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, maturing, coffee notes, barrels a bit up front, bit warm, long finish. 92

2002 Antinori Solaia

MAY 10 Deep ruby, ruby rim. Intense of sweet plums, jammy, chocolate and liquorice, very sweet, didn't dry up even after days of being open. Medium acidity, medium tannins and oak tannins, woody notes and dry finish because of it, high alcohol that ads to the sweetness, even so a bit rustic. Not well balanced, and I can't understand that the label says 13% alcohol when the wine feels this sweet and alcoholic. This is the by far worst Solaia I have had....81

FEB 13 Deep ruby, thin brick rim. Cassis, anise, dates, raisins, rich, ripe, spicy nose. Exotic. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, elegant texture, detailed and nuanced, spicy, probably my best Solaia to date. 95
