JUN 12 Ruby with brick rim. Light dark fruity nose, some spices, liquorice and leather. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, light, fresh and fruity. Bit woody finish. 87

1994 Paternina Gran Reserva

OCT 10 Ruby, brick rim. Blueberries, some anise and liquorice, leaner nose. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, fresh, some herbal notes. 87

1989 Paternina Gran Reserva

JAN 10 Ruby with brick rim. Light fruity nose, some anise and figs, leather. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, anise and blueberries, some spices, good length. 89

1928 Paternina Ollauri Gran Reserva

NOV 11 Brown-red with orange rim, oxidized and Madeira light, this was served blind, and with aromas of Madeira or maybe sherry, but to red colour and totally wrong texture and structure, this was any ones guess. Turned out to be a tired old Rioja, the oldest I've tasted, and even if very tired indeed, a very cool experience.
